Splake
« on: Jul 19, 2008, 10:22 PM »
theres a nearby mountain lake with a max depth of around 50 feet i think that has brookie, rainbow, a few lakers, tons of suckers, and a yearly stocking of splake.  To catch splake i've heard of using a piece of sucker meat and sinker from shore. Is this a common technique or should i fish for them like their parents, lakers and brookies?

Fish for them just like the other trout with spinners, spoons, etc.  Good luck trying to tell them apart if there are brookies and lakers in there as well.

there are tons of brookies, but very few lakers, i don't think i've heard of one under 10 pounds caught, i think they were stocked, and can't spawn successfully, so they just get old.
