I'll get this going with a couple of classsics and you guys can pick this up!

Sailors Quote: Red sky at night, sailors delight! Red sky in morning, sailors take warning!

Sailors quote: East is least, west is best!
Glenn, get the net!

Those are the only ones I know!  This should be an interesting topic...That East is least one...does it refer to a wind coming from the east, or blowing in an eastern direction (towards east from west)?  That's a new one I just heard within the past year and haven't really ever paid attention to which way the wind is blowing...

When you see cows laying down, it's bound to rain soon.

When talking in Mariner terms "wind is from where it blows and current is to where it flows".

"Red right returning"  If I had a doller for everytime I heard that one.

OK Farmers turn:

If there's no dew in the morning, then it won't rain until after sunset!

This one is especially good for the fisherman who gets up before dawn to go fishing for the day. All he has to do is feel the grass for dew.

This one is almost allways true!

This is what I've got!

Always drink upstream from the herd.

Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

Early Bird catches the worm.

Never pee into the wind.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work!!!

How to How to Find Out How Much Time's Left Before Sunset.
Raise your arm and then place your hand out as far as you can with your fingers parallel (see image) to the ground.
Start with your hand positioned underneath the horizon.

Count the number of times you have to flip your hand upwards before you see that your hand is sitting just beneath the sun. Each hand width (e.g. 4 fingers lined up) represents about one hour until the sun sets.

Swap to using fingers if there is less than one hour until sunset. Each finger typically represents around 15 minutes.

Properly, it's "Wind from the East, fish bite the least. Wind from the West, fish bite the best!"

Why play in the dump when the park is right around the corner?
