I think it was 1949 when I was 4 yrs old. We used to go to the Tunkannock creek on a picnic every sunday. My dad would put a bass on my line everytime I was not looking. Of course I found this out from my Mom a few years later. I was hooked ever since and may have done the same thing to DARK CLOUD a time or two.

I was born in 1988, I'm pretty sure my dad put a fishing pole in my hands as soon as I learned to walk.

I was born in April '58, and in Jan, '59 I was bundled in an apple box, next to the wood stove in the shanty. I think that's when it started..... ;D

I grew up in the City of Ithaca with my mom, I was born in 69.....but when I was younger I spent my weekends at my grandparents house in the country. My grampy had been a farmer earlier in life and he taught me about gardening, weather and alot of things that involve the outdoors, but not fishing, he didn't fish, no one in my familly did except my uncle Johhny. On the way to there house on weekends we had to cross a waterway called the Cayuga inlet.. There used to be a older black lady who sold nightcrawlers and always was out fishing for bluegills with a cane pole on floral ave in the summer. I asked my grandfather one time on the way to his house to let me fish with her, she let me use one of here cane poles. I was about 6 yrs old, that was the first time with a rod, as I grew up on cascadilla and Fall creek in Ithaca which both had smelt runs, I was practically born with a smelt net in my hands..I've caught just about everything in a smelt net, mostly smelt and suckers as a kid.

good thread, thanks for the trip down memory lane this morning.

heres a few pics.

I got my start at age 6(1970) or so on the channel leading to First lake of the Fulton Chain lakes. Every morning my brothers and I would fish off the docks for whatever we could catch, usually sunfish. We did get some bass and bullhead and even a trout once. Fishing for smallmouth bass out a Pultneyville pre-gobies got me hooked again after my college days.
