I only saw a few that had eggs in them and i don't know how to tell the difference between a male and a female, I think where i am fishing at they are getting very very close to spawning.

Easy to tell the sexes at this time of year if milt or roe sacs are present. I enjoy the roe sacs (some reason I just haven't been willing to try the "soft roe"). I do believe the sexes taste the same. Here in east-central Indiana I think we are about three to four weeks from spawn. I have always been told to look for the redbuds blooming.

Went out again tonight for about 3 hours caught my limit of crappies a few of them were 12". Boy was it getting cold near dark my hands were froze from getting into the minnow bucket. all were caught in about 4 ft of water and only a foot down.

Went out today for a few hours didnt think i would catch much since it has been colder but that didnt stop the crappie from bitting they bit better today than they have in a while. I thought i had my limit until i came home and was 3 short oh well it'll have to do.

I can't say that i havnt been trying. I know there is allot of fish where i have been going and it has all been from the bank. Seems like everytime i go back there is more crappie's to be caught today all the big ones were females. They gotta be getting close to spawning, although with these cold temps it should push them back a few extra days. to be honest with you guys i never expected to catch this many crappies it has really surprised the heck out of me but i'm happy as can be with the results.

No kidding edge some guys know about it but not many and would like to keep it that way  Going to maybe try it after work tonight if i'm not to tired will let you guys know how it goes.

Well guys went out tonight after work caught my limit again of crappie, but the size quality was way down i kept a few that i shouldn't have but thats alright they clean up just as good.
