I fished the South Hoosic from Cheshire Harbor to Elm Rock from late morning into early afternoon.
Sunny, blue skies, 72 degrees.
Nothing doing up by Cheshire Harbor, so I drove down into Adams and parked just a little below Berkshire Outfitters.
I usually don't fish riffles (preferring the deeper runs and holes), but my first fish today was a nice fat stocky of a (13") rainbow that I hooked (much to my own surprise) after half-heartedly casting into one.
I gave a wide berth around a fly fisherman who was about a football field or so downstream from me, and started wading downstream again.
Eventually, when I reached a point across from Mullen Mayflower, I fished a run near a tree with twisted roots that has produced for me before, and caught a decent 12" brown.
I kept heading down stream, but did not have any more action until I reached Elm Rock, where I landed a 14" rainbow out of a deep hole.
Exhausted from my exertions, I headed home for some hard-core hammocking for the rest of the afternoon.
