Already has ipilot.  Debating the spend on a pro troll controller or not....
honestly I dont think it's worth it unless you were like guiding multiple times a week or something. I can tune my speed pretty easily and it should be a lot easier for you with a underpowered boat.

Ya that's a good point and quite honestly once the lakers group up in deep water I will be hammering them jigging.

I am a BIG fan of an electronic anchor, it is a great tool for jigging lakers...

One of the best tools in my opinion.  I am biased as my pb laker was landed jigging champlain while on spot lock.

It’s the bees knees. First day we used it on our boat, my dad got his PB and it’s also the biggest fish landed in our boat so far (hope you don’t mind some fish pics in the thread):

The other features it has are sweet to. We use it to troll seen smelts early in the year at like 1mph, and the “track” feature is awesome when your banging donuts on a small pond, or working structure back and forth. Takes some playing around to figure out, but It’s sweet cruising in battery power at sunrise. Zen like even.

I also bought it after catching my PB laker on champ with a guide who sang its praises. I bought one when I got home.

I want it for my boat but would have to take it off for my salt excursions. sharps can vouch for how hard of a beating my 14ft sylvan takes. punching it thru 3 to 4ft swells. would break the trolling motor.

I think you'd be fine.  They make a riptide version for salt water (its on my quabbin boat).

I had beat the piss out of it on champlain in similar conditions....we broke a rod once pounding in the waves but never the trolling motor.

I often see braces put in to protect the shaft from excessive banging.

My buddy Kyle (same one that helped me get my old boat ready for quabbin) made one out of pvc pipe.  Works well.

I'm more excited to jig there than trolling although the salmon are fun.

my boat will be sealed till the late may seabass opener. could care less about the quabbin at that point as salt ramps up. wish I had a dedicated boat for fall but it is what it is. I'll be mostly after salmon.

I think you will be fine. You add that to your boat and you are golden. My PB Largemouth and a ton of smallies would not be possible without it.

Cool thing too is 55lb thrust will do fine in fresh water for that sized boat.  Even with some current.  It held my 20'er well on champlain.

The new boat I am going 36v and 110 because I found a deal for one.

I was looking at an 80lb thrust. i fish in places with 5 knots of current and it would be awesome to anchor up and drift a live mack back into the rip
