I read there is no recourse if they stop you and you’re not certified.  No fine.

Idiots!!

Just a money grab for that piece of shi* down state. I have been on a boat since long before I could walk and have been operating boats since I was 6. As in my dad we didnt need boaters safety coarse unless we where boating or operating a jet ski with out an adult over the age of 18. I have forgotten more about safe water practice and boat than some fools even know. I'm not against everyone taking it I'm against having to pay for it

the article states, "the measure seeks to push boaters in their mid-20s and older to take a certified safety class – which can be done online in a couple hours or in person over the course of several or more hours. Costs can start at $10 and rise to $30 to $60 in some cases."  a couple hrs on line of my time wouldn't bother me at all great idea. but I highly doubt its just a couple hrs. and if it is as important to making boating safer as it seems like , it should be free.      I think between all the fees and taxes  we already pay , they should make this one as painless and quick as possible. we deserve a free bone tossed to us once in awhile lol.

" Lawmakers decided against imposing fines against boaters who do not take the safety courses, leaving compliance by consumers to be entirely voluntary."

The NYS pistol permit is renewed every 5 years , if you don’t update you could lose your pistols , NY politicians dont seem to work for its people anymore more like we work for them
