Does there actually have to be oak leaves and trees by the stream.  Or just any leaves?
I have a beautiful stream on my property but no oaks....

Gotta do something to keep busy.
Today I was working on "Humpys".

Haven't tied these in a,while. Took a few to,get a handle on it.. I usually do a foam version. A bit less frustrating.

Here's a good bluegill fly you can play with while you're cooped up. Don't know where the pattern came from I've been tying it for so long.

2 mm craft foam
10>14 dry fly hook (TMC 100)
8/0 uni
Deer body hair

Colors are up to you. I'll skip the instructions unless you have questions.

They float like a cork and gills, Rockies and bass eat them up. I don't tie the legs in. Just use a drop of superglue and they stay in place really well.

Have fun!

There's a version of the humpy with white wing posts that I've seen. I tie some wulff's with orange wings that I can see.

Been working on a pattern I used to tie. Davie Mcphail's Caddis Pupae.

Fun tie. Wish I had the same materials he uses but, these look pretty good.

Bumped into this and other videos about Whiting Farms. Dr. Whiting is an amazing man. Worth the watch if you've ever wondered where your primo dry fly hackle comes from.

those flys are awesome ...and yes i only use powder paint heat head up littile bit dip to coat  tap on jar to nock off exsess dip and do again if not enough on hang them on upper rack in oven with tinfoil below them catch any drips in oven at 350 for 15 mins ,i love it i use a bernzamatic torch to heat them before dipping in with forsepts so i dont burn fingers it takes trial and error to get used to ,important you clean eye of hook before putting in oven cause baking it makes it exstreamly hard to do later,i tie 100s 0f bucktails a year for me and people and its very good stuff i can tie about hour after painting any other questions pm me

Yup.  Short learning curve to get your heat right depending on the size of the jig head but it's really simple as you want to make it.
Bigger isn't always better but Size definitely Matters!

Danman.scroll up a little bit my jigs I posted are all done in powder paint they come out great .like RG said just a slight learning curve on heat.i use a lighter i have a method on different size jigs 1/80 and 1/64 oz i count to 6 not fast not slow bigger jigs i count to like 10..dont worry if u heat your jigs to much lead will fall off and burn ya lol you will learn fast..just dip in fast and take it out fast its easy..i like it myself i really like the glow colors.
