just curious what baits most use after ice out for pannies
i always bring spikes but thinking about trying plastics this yr really just courious
if alot use small plastics under a bobber or only jigs w/live bait???
-
Haven't purchased live bait in a long time. Ice jigs(tungsten usually) and plastics/Gulp types under a spinning or slip bobber has been doing a number on them for years
-
I use 4lb test a casting bobber a three to four foot leader with a #12 black fly that is tipped with a waxworm sets them right off. later on its a golden cane pole with red worms.
-
the little gulp minnows work great
-
All good above, and also try Ratsos with finesse tails, fish two in tandem under a float.
-
I have had luck with meal worms and waxworms
-
I use waxworms, spikes and my ice jigs under a small bobber, fixed or slip depending on water depth.

Waxworms
-
4lb test and small roostertail spinner you will get the bigger gills and crappie love it too
-
Small plastics for spinning gear and whatever makes them happy on the flyrod. Got into targeting panfish with a flyrod last fall. Can't wait for them during the spawn.

1/32 jig with 1 1/2 tube and spikes.
