Title: first decent fish of the open water

u think you got alot of ice, we still got over 3 feet here but the river finally opened up and the carp are starting to move back to the dam ;D

Post by: reubenpa on Mar 14, 2007, 10:09 AM: well bart our ice isn't gone yet either but Seneca lake never freezes..... Our ice isnt' that thick though and will be going soon I hope.. I got the trout on a minnow and the carp on a small piece of slim Jim lol we had several bites but couldn't get it hooked up

Post by: reubenpa on Mar 18, 2007, 08:11 PM: it was fun, I was using a md-hv action rod with 10 lb firline with 12 lb seaguar leader for both fish. I love the fight. I fought a carp a few years ago with a lite action rod 4 lb test and it was a 13 lb 31 incher!!!!! and my biggest ever was caught on 8 lb flourocarbon that was frayed.. it was 38.5 inches and 31 lbs 27 inch girth!! I love a big battle
