Title: The "American Smelt"
Post by: Litchfield Fisher on Jun 18, 2008, 05:58 AM
this is a fly pattern that can be tied in a varity of sizes and looks awful when done but produces FISH it os a tandem hook set up when we tie them we use an atlantic salmon bihook as the stinger hook and a single as the first and all it needs is a smelt body and mylar tinsel tied as the covering on the streamer such as a micky finn as I am not a great fly tier and do not know all of the termonology and the mylar should be several colors often a little red white and blue end up in the mix henceforth The american smelt  but anyone please try it and let me know how it works in your area
