« on: Mar 23, 2004, 05:47 PM »
Has anyone ever trolled rat-l-traps?I have caught a couple of browns with small 3 inch sunfish in there stomach. The shape of these lures would match a sunfish well.Your input please.

These lures will catch ANYTHING. They're my search lure.

My largest Brown came while casting a blue/silver trap for pike...21 lbs 8 oz.

The larger sizes troll pretty well and perform better at lower speeds.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

RAT L TRAPS, or any lipless crank in the 2 - 3 inch range is dynamite for trout, be they browns, bows, cutts, brooks, or lakers. All trout are generally predators and eat mostly baitfish.
These lures not only catch trout, but bass, pike, stripers, and walleyes as well. They are some of the best mulitspecies lures around, right up there with the panther martin spinner.

I can kill the trout on them, along with other species in the same lake.

all the fish love them!

Cordell Super Spots to me are the best, but they stopped making 2-3" size, but I still have a few.
Cordell Super Spots have much better action and make more noise and have better color. They are a lot better overall.

Blue and silver, like RG said, works by far the best in clear water.

In murky water, i like fire tiger.
