I have a lowerance lms 350 that tracks my downrigger balls just fine as long as I use the 50° transducer. If you use a 20° transducer the ball might travel outside your viewing area and not show up at all especially at depths greater than 50'.

Marten,  Tracking your downrigger balls involves several issues....location of your transducer along with transducer angle and degree of cone....trolling speed/ball weight and depth, currents, etc.......a good learning tool on the Lowrance site....                                                         http://www.lowrance.com/Tutorials/Sonar/sonar_tutorial_01.asp
good luck
