Hi TGF, look what this guy weighed in today
« on: Jul 01, 2010, 11:45 PM »

Caught  15 minutes of puting the line in the water. It was the first fish weighed in at the station by american islands. I myself caught some small char.

Didnt get any hits after 2pm and it started to get ruff and cold so we went home. All and all it was a good day at Stuart lk. Tight lines

Wow nice bow. Yes I fished long and hard catching 20 rainbows was our best day. All were released prior to coming out of water. I didn't take any pics though as busy trying to find what they were biting on. I didn't fish that far south as the first pic but concentrated mostly by American Islands for one day and rainbow rock area the rest of time. Highlight was a bald eagle trying to zero in on a 3 lber I was reeling up. Had to wave my net at him to scare him off.....came within 8 feet of the water with talons full out. We only could get just over 4 lbs our biggest. My neighbour got 7.1 lb and didn't take it to the weigh station because he did the same last year and didn't place at all so didn't want to waste the gas.  :cookoo: :cookoo: Sure hope 3rd place is bigger than 7.1 lbs. Was quite rough coming off the lake today. Hard to plane in the white caps. How much did that one weigh?

PS: We had a contest (Son and I) on who could catch the most rainbows per day. If you caught a laker though you had to subtract one rainbow off your total. He beat me by a few due to my catching lakers.

Just got another update from a buddy that was fishing the derby. He got 2nd with a bow weighing 8lbs 12 oz. He caught it just a few hundred yards from the pic where your holding that laker FirstCast.

Just curious, i see people with thier downriggers in the pictures above, at what depth are you fishing these big bows at? I've fished stuart lake a few times and caught a few descent fish but never fished deeper then 10 feet.

This year was colder than most years for this derby and we found the fish to be high up. But in years past I've caught some nice bows as deep as 32 feet.

I wasnt in the derby cause I had to start a new job. Work is for people who dont know how to fish. Thats why I was bottom bouncing for char. 40 + inches. The bows had tons of june flies to eat eh? This weighed in at 7.6lbs which has been known to get in the prizes. Well tight lines.
