Just to keep you thinking, Bob, compartmentalized storage under the board?   ;D
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!

Well, here's the first finished knight. I opted to keep it simple.

Another blank in the lathe.

We'll see if I can make another the same.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Not with this set Bill. Maybe in the future builds.

Good knight!  ;D

"Mrs. Kalabash.....wherever you are!"

Thanks Bigguy. It's a blessing.......and, a curse! My Dad was a constantly tinkering around with stuff. I've been taking things apart and putting them together since I was a little kid. His tool box was never safe from me. But, one thing I always did was put the tools back where I "borrowed " them from. Can't say he was always happy with my mechanical explorations, but he'd help me reassemble whatever it was I shouldn't have taken apart.

This is the design for the next set.

Scroll saw project. It'll be clear pine. One side natural or maybe stained white and the other stained black. Fits on a 12" x 12" board although I think it will end up 14"x14" using maple and dark stained oak for the squares and possibly a walnut inlay between the squares. The board will fold and be the storage box for the pieces.

A fun little departure from the lathe.

Hey...they work :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Finished up all the chess pieces today.

I'll put the felt on the bottoms in the morning.

Board is done as well.

My Son is coming over tomorrow to play the inaugural game with me.
