A beautiful male brook trout mount
« on: Aug 26, 2021, 12:20 PM »
from one of the brook trout I raised in my trout pond. Chad See taxidermist of West Virginia mounted it. The males if well fed get a really high back during spawning season. I've seen it in wild fish in Patagonia where food is plentiful.

They sure are. Going to miss raising them. Brooks and browns were my favorite. Liked them better than the steelhead.

Wanted to see if I could grown one up to 8 lbs., but they seemed to have short life spans and most didn't want to go past age 3. My biggest was 6 lb. 10 oz. in three years, and another one didn't weigh that much but got to 24 inches in three years.

Browns were a different story. Got one to 12 lbs. in 5 years and he probably would have lived longer and become even larger.
