Closing up and putting things away
« on: Oct 25, 2021, 08:44 AM »
The boat has been winterized and in storage for a few weeks now.
This week (hopefully) we will get the motorhome back from the repair shop and then next Saturday I will winterize it and park it out at the lake for the winter.
We have a 2 week Florida trip scheduled fror next April with it that we are going to call "Retirement Practice".
Then next Sunday I will close up and winterize the lake place.
We have already brought home a lot of canned goods, etc. for the winter.
Later this week I would like to maybe mow the lawn one last time and throw some stabil in the fuel and get it back into the shed for the winter.
If things work out as planned...........I will never need to use it again.   ;)
While in the shed, I'll pull out the snowblower and then get it started and things greased and checked for winter duty.
Like the mower, hopefully, this winter will be last time I ever use that beast again.

Depressing.

Donna and I are NOT looking forward to this winter.
We hope it passes quickly and without incident(s).

Good stuff Mac.  When you making the full move to Florida?  I like how they handle the covid down there.

Next year in late October or early November.
But we decided to keep our place on Erie and snowbird it up north during the summer months.

Good for you both.  Plans to rent the Erie spot when you are away?

Sorry partner.
They shut off the water in the winter.
November 1st till May 1st.
Awesome in the summer.
Worse than Siberia in the winter.

Really well after we got things "tweaked and adjusted".
The Ulterra is really seet.
The LiFePo4 battery for it is outstanding - go look at my posts in the electronics thread for more details.

We changed from Amish Outfitters big planer boards to Otter Boats and it was night and day difference.

We still have a few minor items to play with and install next summer.
Music radio and speakers, DC power recepticles with USB, new brakes and rotors on the trailer, and Jeff wants to do something different with the seating.

Overall, it's a very good big water boat.
The Lund did the job, but when it started to cap out there - you got wet!!
It needs to be like 6 footers now before we get anything over the bow.

Love reading that.  Also why I bought a pilot house.  Its been saving me for blackfish season.

I think it'd be perfect for trolling.  Im still struggling to find an 87" terrova...

Yea, Minn Kota (and many other suppliers) are having raw material delivery problems.

Recently I wanted to buy a Pitt Boss table top propane grill.
EVERYONE is out of them and nobody knows when they will get any.
I got to thinking.......Amazon is huge with monster buying power!!!
And I could pre-order it from them and they would ship when they could.
And not charge my card until it shipped!!!!!
They shipped it in like 4 weeks or so.
Others are still waiting.

Not shure if that little story will help you get the 87" however.

Are you absolutely positive you can't use a 72" shaft?

My Trophy has a seriously deep V hull with 19 degree deadrise and the 72" never comes out.
Even in 3-4's.

The 87 would certainly be the best bet, but.................

I have 20 degrees at the transom...not sure what it is at the bow.  Last few trips were in SCA conditions so its a toss up if a 87" would hold or not...but now I will measure.

always kinda felt sorry for guys that winterize their boats.  well, until i hit the lake and have it all to myself. lol
I'm with you. Got tired of all the issues of trying to find and keep deer hunting property,  now I just spend my fall/early winter on lakes and rivers by myself.

Amen!
Don’t even bother with the boat in cold any more. I’ve got more shore fishing spots than I can hit. And, I can always jump in the car if I want to get warm.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Both of mine are still operational. I may winterize the stratos only because it has a brand new lower that I dont think im going to have time to break in before ice season.

Rg Ive seen youve been fishing a lot.  I like the simplicity of shore fishing/wading.  Must less work than the boats.

The bkackfish bite has been really awesome.
