Well boaters we have another new boating law, for boats to be inspected for invasive species, what’s you take.

Yeah almost every launch I have been to the past couple years have an inspection person.  They will even take off the electric motor prop off and inspect/clean behind it..
No problem..

When I pulled my buds boat at the end of the season got checked we cleaned the few weeds that were on it , first time for me , still got read the riot act , and it was headed to his house to be pressure washed and stored
It is a good summer job for college students

I don’t have a problem with it. As long as they allow us to pull away from the ramps, so others don’t get held up. We pull most weeds off that we see from our trailer when we park an empty trailer. Also, after we load up. We fish many bodies of water. Thinking, in mind, that we don’t want to aid in the spread.

Maybe the authorities involved in all of our waters, should’ve thought about ship/boat inspections long ago. We most likely wouldn’t have the invasive issues that we have in our waters. Shipping vessels are a number one source for spreading these invasives through ballast tank filling and discharging.

I’ve launched all over the finger lakes. Never been inspected. A lot of the launches don’t even have an attendant. Never been checked at the canal either.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I have been checked a couple times on a small lake that I fish.

I don’t have an issue with it. I have seen what milfoil can do to a small lake.

I don’t allow it.
I tell them to stuff it and take the boat to another lake, launch it again, and flush my bait well and live well with fresh water from the new lake.
Also take the opportunity to let any remaining bait get their freedom in new surroundings of the new lake too.

I've been inspected nearly every time every time I've been out for nearly 5 yrs now. I personaly don't have a problem with it as they are always polite, and love to visit which is  refreshing in todays world.  It also gives the kids something to do all summer.  The sad part is I believe it is a worthless effort since most of our water bodies are already infected with everything they are trying to prevent from moving.  If they want to do it and don't charge for the service, then let it be. I'm actually grateful when someone is willing to spray off my boat.  As for having a new law, I thought it already was a law.

Or frogs?

Yea, all good points.
You simply will never stop the spread.
Only delay it.

My comment was “tongue in cheek” for those of you with slightly less than average grey matter BTW.

I also believe this is not a new law.  At least here in NY.
However, maybe they recently modified it and it’s up to all of us to know it.
