i saw the hype and the pics. the kids dragged the monster around on a cheap yellow stringer and if you look closely, the basses eyes told the real story. it was already dead!!!!!!!!!! what a waste!!!!!!!! theres a few so called anglers in here that lift half dead nasty tasting salmon and eat that crap, that dead bass tastes the same or worse.spring rockies out of cold water are ok to eat and i cant believe that our maine fishers consider perch as a trash fish????????? its a tough say, ill never be in their shoes so whatever happened is ok by me. ive caught a few trophys from ny waters all released after a big kiss mostly smallies caught b4 season crappie fishing and yes its still a thrill. im out.

i think you looked at the wrong story there. there were no  kids or yellow stringer. goto espn.com BASS section look for world record bass. ::)

Releasing a fish  that is so old it's at the end of it's life span serves what purpose? The answer is pretty obvious.  The way to perpetuate the existence of a world record bass is to mount it.

its gonna die anyways soon, and it has already produced enough little bass that it serves its purpose already

It would be very hard to keep a fish that big alive long enough to have it weighed and certified a record and take it back and release it...
Its going on the wall...
