Son's first musky
« on: Apr 09, 2006, 04:45 PM »

I took out my son Ryan for his first musky outing.
He decided to cast a grub on his new fenwick rod spooled up with 8 lb. P-line and BANG he gets a hit on the second cast and all of the sudden this 33 inch muskie goes airborne, I couldn't believe it. I ran for the net thinking there is no way he is going to get this thing in with no steel leader.
He did and he was as happy as could be.
The smile says it all.

Very nice! Nothing better than seeing the young ones catch a quality fish! Congrats on a great catch Ryan! Many more father and son catches in the future.

Great job Ryan!
The "fish of 10,000 casts", by a kid, in NJ, on a grub, in two casts!
I'm not sure where to begin. I suddenly got a warm feeling about things, and my underwear is still dry.
One may wonder if the credit goes to Ryan, Dad, the lake (Hopatcong?), the region (New Jersey, the Great Point of Land), the fish (major), the lure (simple grub), or something else (~?~).
From vast experience, I know it is all of the above. :)
