Can you guess the species of this fish?
« on: Aug 15, 2022, 05:20 PM »
Looks like everyone went to the seafood supermarket this weekend.  I went hunting for fluke with a buddy yesterday and he smashed this:

It was quickly measured and determined a keeper.  Bleed out and iced.  (Hint the minimum size to keep one in NY is 37")

Had a nice mix of fluke and seabass.  Good weather too!

Cool catch Jon. They do make it up this far sometimes. Good eats too. Used to fish for them when I'd go to Cape Hatteras every year.
I fish every chance I get and enjoy every time I fish. They call it fishing not catchin

Great to hear from you Jeff.  Big thick filets for sure.  Buddy is grilling the head as well.

Nice Jon. Yeah they have been up here for years now. More and more common each year, no surprise. Some really big ones in RI. Enjoy the feast!

LOL still around. Been fishing as much as I can. Got some nice stripers the other night throwing live eels. Heading to Lake Ontario 8/24 -8/27. Hope the Kings and Coho want to play.

Confirmed a cobia(lemon fish). I've caught them years ago down in the Boyou.
They caught one in the canal this year. They have caught them on the cape more frequently the last few years.
