Christmas trees, cowbells
« on: Mar 28, 2008, 05:14 AM »
I found a bunch of these in my barn. I've heard people use these for rainbows. What do you use yours for and how do you rig them? All information you can give me is greatly appreciated,
I've never fished rainbows but I do troll alot with leadcore line for lakers.
thanks

I bought an old tackle box at a rummage sale that had some of these in it.A friend whom owns a cabin on a lake saw this and wanted to buy the whole tackle box just to get the cowbells and I would`nt sell but I did give Him an assortment of the cowbells. He walked away just happier than a pig in mud. 8)

i put an 18 -36 inch leader with nightcawler or a sutton flutterspoon.use inline trolling sinkers or downrigger this rig tends to ride to surface without weight.

Run a spin and glow or a peanut behind them and run them off a downrigger.  Keep the downrigger 1' off the bottom.  Lake trout love tjese rigs.

You can also use Dipsy Divers or Jet Divers to get them down to various depths.  I have run a variety of lures on a  18-36" leader behind the blades. Lite Spoons often work well, Stickbaits, Big Streamer Flies, Flatfish, Peanuts, ect...Experiment.
