Maggots for Perch in Open Water?
« on: Feb 22, 2008, 01:34 PM »
Anyone use Maggots for perch in open water?  I use them pretty much exclusively on hardwater, but never tried it in the summer?  Any thoughts?

Ive used them in the summer not so much for perch but for bluegills and stuff. They work well but they tend to get ripped off, and the small fish really get them.

Maggots will work year round for perch. Always good to have some on hand. Besides if you can get away with using maggots why not, they are cheap, easy to store, super hardy and probly one of the most difficult things for pesky perch to steal. Usually use a lead jig head with a wiggle tail body tipped with a maggot if im fishing with them.

REally???   Maybe thats how I should fish for them in Seneca lake in 60 FOW  lolololoolol    I am sure it works but the water would have to be kinda shallow wouldn't it??

Spikes do work for them!!!!!   under a bobber...  on a jig tied to a dropshot etc!
Just wanna be fishing, not just wishin
