GIAGANTIC TITANIC CARP!!!!!!!!!
« on: May 09, 2005, 06:14 PM »
My buddy jon and i were fishing this afternoon, and after me catching 3 to his none, he hooked the mother of all carp. After a long battle, we got it in. 44 inches long, 34 inches of girth...most fish calculators put that at 50lbs 13 oz....the current state record is only 50lbs 4oz...and some other calculations put the fish even larger.  We let it go, as we didnt realize that the fish was over 50 (i forgot my scale)

believe it or not, it only took about 20 minutes or so to get her in with the 8lb maxima leader we were using, but i think she wore herself out on her first two runs, which were really smokin'

8lb test maxima leader, wow, I bet that was a tense 20 minutes eh? That's one big carp on that light a test, it goes to show if you play your fish right you can land them on pretty light line.:flex:
I caught a large 20lb pike last year while fishing for walleye. The line was 10lb test, no steel leader and a barbless hook.:w00t:
Too bad about the scale, that's when the big ones always bite, that and leaving the camera at home also. :whistling:

Living in Maine I have never caught a carp. But from what I am reeding that thing is a HOGGGG. I have seen them caught when I was in Germany and never saw one close to that size.

Wow, now that's some carp. I swear the backround looks like Casey pond in WNY, but I've yet to see any carp pulled out of there. It's an old iron ore bed, has a suken railroad car somewhere in the middle. Anyway-- Nice fish brother!!!!!!
