I fished the North Hoosic in North Adams this afternoon.
Mostly sunny, blue skies, temps near 80, a light breeze. The stream was low.
I started at the Natural Marble Bridge State Park pond and fished down Hudson Brook to the North Hoosic. No hits along the way.
I caught a 10" brown just below the entrance to the Park, and lost a bruiser of a rainbow (16"-18") which slipped the hook with a head shake after giving me a helluva battle.
I fished down to the next bridge, but nada, so I doubled back to my car and drove down stream to the roll dam. No action at the roll dam itself, but I did reel in a strangely logy 12" brown just a little further downstream.
I went back to my car and drove down to the Eclipse Mill Dam, where I landed one last (9") brown, and then called it a day because I had "run out of river" (i.e., the stream drops down into flood control chutes that are too shallow to fish before it joins the South Hoosic in the center of North Adams by Mass MoCA to form the Main Branch of the Hoosic).
