Planing on going to Lake Ontario this Spring.
Brought my boat last time & had bad weather. Looking to find a good charter captain.
Any feedback from experience would be appreciated. PM will be fine.
Thanks in advance.

TK Charters out of Oswego is one of the best. They will put you on some big browns and will look for Kings that are hanging around. We fished with them last year in May and had two great days. We are going back in July for big kings. These guys work hard to find you fish and are reasonably priced.
We have been with Hat Trick Charters and would not recommend them.
-
Just out of curiousity...Why not Hat Trick. I have fished with them 3 times (the last time being may of 2018) and I have had great experiences with them. They are the only ones I have been out with so I like hearing about other boats. Thanks
-
I elected to pass on Hat Trick, mainly because his rates were twice that of his competitors
and feedback I got from two others was very positive. We elected to go in August for the
salmon, with the option for other species.
-
Who did you end up going with if you don’t mind me asking?

I had several charters that were recommended and we went with http://www.reeladventurecharters.net/
He was very reasonable, with a rate of $1,090 for two 8 hr. days for just the two of us and motel rooms for three nights. That was considerately less than "Hat Trick" @ $1,400 without lodging. Being a guide myself, I was impressed
with my conversation with the captain and the flexibility he offered.

I,ve been fishing with captain glen for several years now. do 2 trips a year for browns and salmon. always does his best to put you on the fish. you won't be disappointed, bob. and those chinocks have an attitude.
-
Perfect time for big staging kings, Bob ;D

Can't go wrong with a guy like captain Glen..😊
I'm heading out to Lake Erie in May to target the walleye with Captain Hook, don't really have a bucket list, but if I did, walleye would be on it

That's why my buddy & I are going the middle of August. Nice Salmon!!
-
Sounds like you made a good choice. Hope you have a blast
-
Thanks, we'll be sure to report.
-
I make the trip in August every year with Deerhunter. You will have a great time and catch some good fish with Glen. I love when those Kings Hit. Can't wait to get back out there in August
-
When are you going in August? We are fishing the 17th & 18th, they should be well staged by then?
-
I think its around the 22nd or 23rd.
-
Thanks Wayne, looking forward to the trip. It will seem strange to
hire a guide but they know what's going on. I can relax, ;D
-
An acquaintance just got back from the Fair Haven area and they did very well. Fished for browns shallow early and late and then out in deeper water for kings. 25-45 feet of water for the kings and they ran 3-5 colors of leadcore or riggers at set between 15-25 feet. Spoons with green did most of the damage but they also caught a few on stickbaits. They fished their own boat.
-
hey bob, good luck up at Ontario this weekend. let us know how you do. the salmon have been staging and the fishens been good as long as the weather holds out. the wind can make a bad day of fishin. the long term looks good for the weekend.
-
Just got back from the trip. Thanks for putting us on to Glen at Reel Fishing Charters.
We really kicked butt! The two of us had ten kings and four togue, biggest king was 24# & we lost two monsters, one broke the 30# floro leader and another one bent a rugged treble. Charlie & I will definitely be going back and will fish browns next spring in addition to the salmon season.
Glen was organized, nice 27' boat, excellent gear, everything clean and neat. He has quite a net work of information on his equipment.
I'll update with photos later.

Great photos so glad you caught some nice fish. Thought Charlie was going with you. That Togue looks solid.

Bob, That’s quite a haul. That big lake fishing is a great experience. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Nice!

Looks like a great trip.

Good luck Bill. I haven't fished there all year. Stark contrast to how many times I went up to compete in tournaments last year.
-
Nice fish, Bob. The salmon must be getting staged to invade the shoreline soon, probably with the cool and wind coming in. Always looked forward to that when I lived out there.
Good luck, DeerHunter!
-
It looks like a successful trip, did you have fun? Hard to tell by the look on your face!!
-
Looks like you had a great time! Too bad Fish of that size aren’t a regular thing for Maine :-\

Nice fish Bill, one real nice salmon and a big togue. Fishing that lake is always a challenge but Glen still gets the job done. Glad you had a good trip. We have already booked three days for next year's August trip and will fish browns in the spring.
-
yes he told me you booked 3 days.lol. I may go back up in a couple weeks and help him pull the boat and do some fishing. then its april for the browns when the boat goes back in. big fish in that lake

Bill, you got me hooked! I never thought that I would hire a guide, being one myself but he sure knows the
system in that body of water.
That lake does hold some monsters. I have the three day trip planned for two days fishing salmon, the third day
lake trout, then in for browns. lol (weather permitting for that schedule, could be mixed up)
