WEEKEND FISHING TOURNEY
« on: Aug 19, 2010, 08:08 AM »
me, my son,and a buddy entered the ERA AGENCY 1 saltwater sportfishing tournament last weekend, the weather and the fishing was good.my son won the youth division open class with a nice cod,he also placed 7Th in the mackerel division(The top ten receive prizes in the mack division).he also entered a slot striper that held third for a while, but was edged out in the end.and we had a fish story to tell........While jigging for cod on tantas,a whale went right under my boat! you could see it clear as day, maybe 8 feet down.one of the pectoral fins fouled one of our lines.I'm guessing he or she was about 25'long,pretty scary when your in a 17'boat.lets just say the look on everybodys face was "priceless"not to mention a change of shorts was in order ;D

Saw you out there last Friday as I was headed offshore... Pretty neat how the fog illustrated the sea water temperature break...

Very cool, we had the same thing happen at the mouth of the saco river last year. Remember there was a 20' white whale (beluga, I know bad spelling) hanging around last summer that broke off a larger pod of whales and was getting fed by boaters. Well, one morning, Huntfisher and I were crushing schoolies at the mouth of the river with several other boats when this whale came up next to my 14' alum. I thought chris was going to loose it. He started the motor and off we went, as I looked in the wake, wouldn't you know it, the whale was following us.

Gald to hear your son did so well. You raising quite a fisherman there. Keep up the good teachings.. ;D

Salmon jump at the site of my boat. ;D

He's the man! He's on the right track for sure. He'll have no problem finding foot prints to follow to the fishing holes. ;D ;D
