Made this 12" tall snowman for my Son's girlfriend.

Corn cob pipe, and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal.

Fun stuff.

Thanks Dom. It's nothing you couldn't do.
Made a miniature version for one of the girls at work who was having a hard time with some family problems. I got a big smile and a hug.

Makes it all worthwhile.

Well I turned another ornament for my Bride.
I was at Woodcraft with my Son picking up some carving chisels for him for Christmas and found a couple small  Brazilian ebony blanks.

Never turned this wood before. Super dense and really pretty.
The blank, round and finish

Turned this one for my Sister in law from a piece of walnut limb my son gave me.

Now I'm working on some fiber optic lighting to light a little turned Christmas tree for my Daughter. Should look pretty cool if I can get it to work.

Got an order today for some Sepele "Bunn Feet" and legs for a custom built table. My neighbor works in a custom cabinet shop and provides me with a lot of exotic and domestic wood for my projects. In turn ( so to speak) I do lathe work for them.

A fine arrangement if you ask me.

Well the first two clocks are done.

Figured Sepele Mahogany with Tree Of The Heavens indicators.

Right clock turns to the right....left clock turns to the left.

Kind of the Yiin And Yang clocks. Many more to come for this wall before spring. I've decided that all he clocks on the left of center will turn to the left and on the right to the right. Should be entertaining trying to get them all synchronized. Or maybe a bit of chaos is in order.

Turned myself a new mortar and pestle today. I traded my last one to my neighbor. He made me a pizza peel.

It's actually the first bowl I've ever turned. I'm pleased!

Well, I've turned out a few things for myself lately.
You've seen the mortar and pestle....

Finally turned a mallet for myself ( I seem to give them all away)

Made salt and pepper keepers for my kitchen.

Now I'm working on a Longworth Chuck for my lathe.
Here's what it does

Here's what it looks like.

Here's my layout.

It's made of two discs with opposing arced slots. The bumpers expand and contract to hold bowls so the bottoms can be finished.

Intreresting project.

Well I screwed up the first layout. The layout was correct but I mounted the faceplate to the discs after the layout. When I put it on the lathe to true it up, it was way off center.

So...I flipped the disc over, mounted everything to the lathe and found the exact center. Then I did the layout. Should be able to rout out the slots today when I get home.

Tricky fixture to build.

Finished the Longworth Chuck and I'm very pleased with the results.

Holds work very securely, not too hard to set up, adjusts to a wide range and uses either 4 or 8 points of attachment for smaller or larger work. I'll be making more of these I think. A smaller size first.

An interesting and very useful build.
