Might be crazy, but my "out on a limb" pick is going to be the Penguins.
I think they are going to be this years Sabres of last season.

Sabres, they retained most of their players and should pick up where they left off last season. This could be the year!!

Would've loved to see them keep thornburn, we need some grit in the corners to replace grier. He and Mckee will be sorely missed obviously. It was entertaining to watch thornburn, mair, and peters during the pittsburg game lol. Although they had peters drop some weight this off season to try and help switch his role a little bit. So he might not be the big goofy bruiser he was last year.

nice win buffalo, i watched it on tivo in super fast mode. i think i watched the game in 25 minutes. 1st time i have only had 1 beer during a hockey game.

It'd almost be a shame for a guy like Crosby to win a cup his first season. It'd take the luster of pursuing it thru your career away i would think. Like teh sabres..........the thing that makes it so exciting, is the fact that they have never won. lol.........Im just kidding, in a way, but think about it..........coming into the league, young as he is, rippin up the league in every way, put on a pedestal, win the cup........pretty much blow your wad the first season in the league. What do your goals and xpectations become from there? Just food for discussion i guess. Go Sabres.........then go Pens

As long as nothing stupid happens, that kid will be a legend. With the enforcement the penguins just acquired, they will be contenders.

ok..even though i love the wings..ill have to correct you hear.....only something like 18% of nhl players are american. the majority of wings staff hails from the great white north. sorry i just knew i would be nicer then some of the otheres on here. lol.

I'm picking the Red Wings IF big Bert gets healthy and plays, otherwise, you gotta like the predators for it.
On that Crosby thing, I agree that it would be a shame to see him win it so young, you gotta pay your dues first. Look how long it took Lemieux! Even Gretzky or Howe didn't win it right away. Or Peyton Manning for that matter, it's more fun to see 'em climb the mountain than just get there.

On Oct 4, 2006, I picked the Sabres. They have positioned theirselves well heading into the last few games of the regular season. If the playoffs started now , they would be playing the Canadians. Bring it on!!!!

crosby is gonna get his head knocked off one of these days and i will be cheering that it happened. hes a show boat and i hate watching him play. i wouldnt even watch the toronto vs pens last saturday on cbc. wow you have 117 points but you cant do anything else.
nashville will get close cause of tootoo. hes a beast and everyones afraid of him. i think he actually scored some goals this year too.

They need a huge rebound in their play. Still can happen. Looks a little bleak. Almost like they peaked months ago.
