This little guy lives in a cave inside the rotting base of this tree. I had him hooked a bunch of times the other day with worms but he always heads back into the cave and gets off. Went back today with a hare's ear and the same thing happend, I lost him a couple times; he really attacked the nymph, one time hit it on the surface, then stopped biting. I went away then tried once more on the way out; dropped in the fly, he darted out and back in with it but I managed to pull him out this time. He's back in there now.

Notice how dark he is from being out of the light most of the time; they adapt their coloration.

He has this pool to himself, it's only a couple feet across.

He's got himself quite a little territory there, he'll have to move out soon if he keeps growing

I see that, very cool brookie water.  8) little barbless hooks are a most when fishing skinny brookie water like this, I love it..... I was out friday doing a little brookie fish'n too, very cool.  8)
