Title: Candlewood Lake
Post by: JAMMER on Jun 02, 2011, 09:53 PM
It was like the ocean out there with the wind but worth it. I know its getting hit hard with all the tourneys but its still action packed. The plan was to troll lead-core for trout most of the time except we never got the rods out of the locker. Bass fished three hours and got 29 into the boat between the two of us plus a number of red-eyes also. Most fish in the 2lb range with my biggest large mouth 5lbs and smallie 3lbs. Nice little after work venture with no boat traffic.

Went out today with buddys 15 yr old on a paddle boat. Caught a couple+ bass and alot of rock bass. Lost some smallies at the "boat" ( used to standing i think ). We had a blast.

Spent a couple hours throwing plastic on Danbury end that landed four smallies, one lmb, and a few rock bass. Marked alot of fish on humps, drop shot one trout and zero trolling. Nice night to be on the water.

Spent the later part of the day by the "ice box" area fishing wacky worms. Small mouth color of choice was purple. Good fishing.

6/20 3-7pm hot & sunny, lots of college partiers and skiers out on a Monday.    probably the worst time to fish but I had a buddy from Westchester visiting.   us and the Cobia CC hit Bogus Point, Pine Island South, Candlewood Echoes and the New Fairfield islands using swim baits.  fishing off weedlines in 8-25 FOW

tough pickin buddy landed 3 3# LMB so he went home reasonably happy. I like my passengers to be happy.

yours truly got only a dink SMB after losing 2 monsters, one of which nearly jumped in the boat est. 5# ..... the second was hooked in 25 FOW off Pine Island South, we never saw.... a real strong  bulldog staying down pulling drag on my ultralite 4# rig for a couple of minutes, then made a big surge and tore loose of the hook.  That would be a frickin Gamigatzu jap-ass hook

thats why they call it fishing

Lots of good size bass caught in a couple hours. Started out deep i put my pole down to bring a fish in with live bait and something blasted the keitech and rods gone. Did the best throwing worms in eight ft. or less of water at shoreline weed openings. I ended up with 11 with 4# biggest. Boat traffic still stupid out even on weekday eve in rain. Not happy about rod.

I think every bass in cwood has a hook mark in them. Went out with "dog" to try out a boat and got on some big ones on sat.

Went to a private pond in morning and got spoiled and hit candlewood from 5-8 in eve. Ended up with 3 smb at cwood (one over 3#).The 2nd bass i caught had a 3/0 wide gap hook and 2 ft. of line stuck in him from a previous snap off. Lots of boats to deal with but great weather and alot of water time.

i hit up candlewood today and the boat traffic was crazy!! it was my first time going to cwood being as its a 2 hour ride from RI but it was worth it.  we ended up with 17 largemouth all keepers in the 2lb range, biggest was 3.5#; and 3 smallmouth bass, biggest was 4+ lbs with another one around 2. overall i was really happy with this being the first time

Great job Legend, glad you got on them. Crazy as it sounds i wasnt there but surf casting in Rhode Island. Last minute Fri. night decision of doing a beach day with bro/sis-inlaw in Westerly turned out catching some sea-robbins from sand and blues off boat. (2 hour drive)

WOW that was some rain yesterday! I was in a river up off rt 202 and got caught in one of the cells. I was close to a bridge so i got under it and waited it out. It must have drooped an inch and a half in 30min WILD!
When I drove about a mile down from there it never rained  at all.

Beat the storm from 6-9 fishing Danbury park side mostly. I ended with five bass total with a 4lb+ smb the biggest. Lost a cow at the boat (my fault) but i would of loved to put it on the scale. Counted three other bass boats the entire time and a handfull being pulled due to "irene". Cwood was glass!

Fished from 7 to 11  getting 14 bass on boat with 5 over 4# . Low boat traffic and fisherman we saw were drop-shot/hump fishing so we had the run of the place to hit our spots. May hit it again this eve.

Fished 7-10 and caught a dozen bass with 3 at 3#. Went to try a couple spots that we have not been to in a few weeks (holly,p.island,+sand bar 1) and mostly little fish was the result.Guys out today we talked with agreed on it slowed down and water temps did drop quick.A few more trips back but it looks like the eyes at squantz are gonna be targeted again soon.
