Title: Smartphone GPS Apps
Post by: TheDL on Jul 28, 2011, 02:49 PM: So, my cell phone crapped out and I ended up finally caving in a getting a smartphone (HTC Desire). It's neat, I'm not really interested in all the crap it does...I do like the camera, etc....but I am looking through the apps and I see all kinds of GPS related apps - ones that give you precise speed measurements, allow setting waypoints, etc. these are features that are missing from my fishfinder and I want to try out one of these apps to get waypoints for fishing.

Anyone out there try this? Which apps are good for this function? There are soooo many ???

Post by: jopes on Jul 28, 2011, 09:50 PM: I downloaded lakemaps for mine, it was $15.00 The only down side is it does not show quite everything as the paper printed map does.

Post by: TheDL on Sep 16, 2011, 09:20 AM: I tried a free one called GPS essentials - it's been working well for me. Accurate speeds (even walking), good waypoint control and accurate direction/location.
