-
Great fish!!
Were those guys across the stream cursing you?
-
Great pics. How much did that salmon weigh? ;D
-
treed it's funny that you ask that because the stream has maybe only 400 yards of wadeable water until you get to a hydroelectric dam and at times there could be a few hundred people fishing this short stretch of water. I've seen allot of guys loose there cool and shouting matches will start but that day I don't think anyone was starting any B.S. I wish I knew how big the was salmon d_balm but I'd like like to guess high 20's maybe low 30's.

I caught a female very similar in size to your male in october of this year. Mine was probably a little fatter but didn't nearly have the length that yours did. That went 27 lbs I bet yours is right around there might have even broken 30 lbs.Great fish.Oh I like the colors on that steelie. What an awesome lookin fish.Keep those nice ones comin.

They let you fish chinooks that far up the river? You might as well have whacked him on the head, he lost all his milt when you picked him up. Why would you want to fish them that late? Nasty. Good steelie

Kris, The fish was caught pretty early in the season believe it or not. If you look at the photo again you could see that the leaves haven't even changed color yet.(I think it was mid August) As for allowing were we can fish this creek it's only a couple miles to the mouth of the lake before the fish are stopped at a dam. There is only a few hundred yards which anybody is able to wade for fishing. Not much reproduction happens here because the bottom doesn't have any gravel. Its pretty much all shale and large rocks. Any nests that are in this creek get trampled by people who don't know were to walk. Thankfully New York has a very aggressive stocking program for kings and cohos in allot of the Ontario streams.

I still say yuck. If thats what they look like in mid august then catch them in july
The wild runs we have here peak the first week of august and lots of fish are still coming in from the ocean then but I guess when you transplant species cross continent it can screw them up  I can't imagine he fought very good? You ever want to come try them while they're chrome gimme a holler

Nice catch, had some fun that day. And I'm jealous of you going to Canada

Kings usually stack up off of Oak Orchard right after Labor Day, so I'd expect the same down at Burt. My guess would be a mid-September fish.
For size comparison, this female went 24, and was caught September 2nd, 2003.
