What is your favoriate species to fish for in the open water season?? What are your favoriate lures to fish for them. Mine would have to be bass. I like to use both topwater and tube jigs.
-
Smallmouth and Largemouth...can't decide which. But I like them all...
...Stripers are catching up quick though!
Let's see, then there's lake trout, steelhead, brown trout, walleye, Northern pike, chain pickerel, muskies, crappie, yellow perch, white perch, bluegills, channel catfish, bluefish, flounder, sea trout, etc., etc…..
If it bites, I like to catch it!
-
I started out chasing Northerns then it was Bass now I have an affliction for Walleyes, but I still love slaying a bunch of panfish of any kind long as they are big. ???

-
ill take anything that swims as long as it puts up a good fight
-
I like every species of fish as well. If it bites I will fish for it.
-
Man FB, that's a tough one as you can see. I would have to say NOrthern Pike. There are many ways to fish for them and the potential for a really big fish is there. When I say big, I mean not big for the species, but BIG!!!! Musky are much harder to catch for the bigger fish. I do love all the species except for Trout; nothing against Trout guys though.
-
I like to fish for just about anything that swims.Whether its big channel cats on chicken livers or walleyes on Rapalas,Ijust like to fish.My job interferes with my fishing, or I'd be out every day.I might take next week off to try for walleyes and Musky in the river. 8)
-
Like alot of the guys said, I'll fish anything that fights, but my favorite has to be bass and pike on top-water baits. After spending all winter focusing on a spring bobber for the slightest wiggle, it's nice to have a fish explode on a spook or buzz bait and leave no doubt that you did indeed just have a strike.

trout in general. rainbows, brookies, browns, tigers and lakers
-
I'm a hardcore bass fisherman. THtas right, 17 and I'm hopelessly addicted to bass. While I mainly fish for, and catch largemouths, I love a smallie in the current. Especially HEAVY current, like below a dam. To me, theres nothing quite like it. Pike are pretty fun too.

CARP!
-
Master Chen know current fish STRONG 8)
-
I do love all the species except for Trout
Mike, ever fish for steelies or Lake Ontario browns or Niagara lakers? If not, then you might change your mind after hooking a few of those ;)
Those little dinky stockies ain't nothin' till you hook into a big 30" steelhead!
-
For warmwater, my favorite is river smallmouth. I will also spend a day or two just for carp. I like to catch them on fairly light tackle in the river - that's a blast with a 20+ pounder on.
-
I like to River fish for Trout & Smallmouth Bass & Boat fish
walleye, chain pickerel, muskies, bass, crappie, yellow perch, white perch, Then ocean fish Strip bass bluefish, flounder, Fluke ;D
-
Pike for sure....but I actively fish for steelhead, salmon when they are in, bass, walleye and catfish.
Jon
-
I am a trout purist. I like to catch all species, but if given the choice I will go for any species of trout/salmon/char over any other.
-
You are right Fatboy, I probably would like to catch them. I don't have enough time to fish as it is so I don't go for other species. If it wiggles, I am psyched!!! :D I have hooked into some monster underwater branches that gave a heck of a fight, only dissapointed after I find out it's not a fish.
-
Just about anything that bites. But if i had to pick two it would be stripers & smalllmouth.
-
Northern Pike... Then it would be smallmouth bass.
-
Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth, I use to do a lot of Stripper fishen on the surf but I moved to N.E. Pa. 2 year's ago and now it's to far to travel, so I give up the Stripper's Plus my back went south so I cant jump the rock's anymore. Sometime's I'll sit on a bucket and fish for Carp & caty's.
-
I will be going after big splake trout and browns in early spring. Than in the summer it is usuly any kind of trout . I also take of for a week every summer to go to Lake Havesu Az to go after stripers.
-
For food, perch and walleye can't be beat, but for C&R, I'll take salmonids anytime! The best species of all to fish for is the one thats biting!! Andy
-
crappies -early spring
walleye & n,pike-- may
bass -- june
steelhead--october till ice season
-
CARP Sorry Kid no carp allowed in the toon, you'll have to break em off.
-
Bass rule in my book
-
Ah Cmon Just one in the boat jigginstick for photo?
-
Trout, pike, eyes, and whatever is left.
-
brook trout- browns -steelhead and sometimes crappie
-
I will give the nod to walleye, there is a certain feeling that goes along with a nice walleye. For the summer and most action, bass all the way. Top water is a fave, followed by texas rigged plastics, I love a good chunker in the weeds in about 15 fow.
-
buy and far, my favorite has to be panfish. catching them on an ultralite rig with 4# test is a lot of fun. I do fish for bass, walleye and northern also. Wisconsin has a lot of different opportunites for the angler, hard or soft water.
HIMO
-
Gotta be smallmouth bass on rivers.
Bronzeback
-
any fresh water fish you can catch off the shore or dock bring em on
-
It would have to be the largemouth. Although I like catching species, probably 80% of my fishing is for bass. Favorit lures would have to be the jig and pig and the Yamamoto worm.
-
WALLEYE, ON JIG'S OR DIXIE SPINERS, DEPENDS ON WHAT TIME OF THE YEAR IT IS.....
-
i love to fish all kinds. it just depends on the season and weather. but if i had to pick it would be flatheads, cause i like my fish to pull back! lol
-
ice out til mid may i chase the brookies ,then im torn between the stripers and the freshwater bass till august then its stripers, stripers, stripers!then through the fall, ill chase whatever seems to be biting, usually bass
-
trout! Warm water fish are a lot of fun when looking for steady action or a short trip.
-
I love to fish for trout period, but the Landlocked Salmon is the fish I admire the most... From their subtle to violent takes and the airial sunts they perform, you just set the hook and enjoy the ride...
-
PANFISH on light tackle
-
Walleyes is the main open water fish i target. Also smallies and rainbows. Catch them (all) in as little as 9'' of water and mostly on jigs. You cant like smallie fishing and not like rainbow fishing. The smaller bows(3 to 6 pounders) are like smallies on steroids with their arial displays and upstream drag burning runs, cool 8)
-
I love to fish streams, ponds, lakes and rivers. For anything thats in season. ;D
MCfishnut
-
I like to fish for anything that will bite. Started out fishing streams where I grew up and migrated to pond fishing from shore as the kids grew.
Still like to fish for them panfish.
-reelcharacter
-
Smallmouth and Walleyes in rivers and perch in lakes. But I will fish for anything that swims, as long as it
it fishing.
-
I guess if it was only one species that I would have to pick then it would be brook trout but I like them all . ;D
-
looks like this site is going to rockinroll!!! i love to fish for perch, walleye, smallies, lake trout and not necessarily in that order. oops, i forgot channel cats. grump
-
Panfish. Mostly bluegills and crappie. Sunnies and perch ain't bad either.
Trapperdirk,
NICE batch of fur! Trapping is my number one obsession!
Have you been here?Coyotes "R" Us (http://coyotesrus.proboards27.com/index.cgi)
-
Gills, crappies, perch, walleyes and smallies...I'm a pan fishing nut but will fish for any thing that swims.......
-
Check out my User Name, and you can guess what I like fishing for. I also enjoy Large & Smallmouth Bass fishing.

For me there is nothing like throwing on the old chest waders, on a cool crisp spring morning, and stream fishing for trout! there's just something about being knee high in an active trout stream that I can't get enough of. I practice catch and release when I fish for trout. As for eating you can't really beat wallye, perch or other panfish which I also love to fish for! Small panther martins, mepps#0-#1's, salted minnows and little red worms work well (for trout) for me until I get the fly rod out! ;D
-
Bucketmouth Bass
-
My all time favorite would be trout, then Walleye, then the allmighty Pike. 8)
-
Arctic Grayling and King Salmon AKA Chinook Salmon
-
Smallies most of all for the sheer enjoyment of the fight that they give.
-
I would have to say the various Panfish are my favorite quarry. Live bait'em whenever possible. This year I hope to spice up my fishing life with a little more variety.
-Reelcharacter
-
gotta be those big wi river smallies on my fly rod
-
Bluegills in the winter, Walleyes in the spring, Catfish in the summer, and Crappies in the fall.
Hard for me to narrow it down I love em all.

Those little dinky stockies ain't nothin' till you hook into a big 30" steelhead!
I catch Rainbow trout, my favorite, in the colorado river that live in extremely heavy current. They average 20 " and I've got them around 30". That is a fun 11 lb. fish on 4 pound test, to me, much more fun than a 11 lb steelhead on "marlin gear"
but, to each his own, at least we aren't peta ;)
-
Kings, lakers, perch, sunnys, walleye, browns.......I really just love being in the outdoors!
-
I love Musky fishing, There's nothing like a boatside strike.
After muskies I would have to say Pike, Smallmouth, Hybrid stripers and than Largemouth bass.
Good hunting, Jeff <*))))))><
-
LANDLOCK SALMON IN FAST WATER. NOTHING LIKE IT ESP. ON A FLYROD.
-
I love trophy Lake Trout but i also love hooking a nice fighting kokanne salmon
-
That's like asking what my favorite band or movie is. I like all fishing except trash fish. I Ice fish all winter and fish for walleye, perch and crappie in spring to fill up the freezer. That way, I can spend my summer doing what I really love; Fly fishing for browns, bows and brookies. I also make it to Florida twice a year (Dec and June,) for saltwater action.
-
That is a tough one ???. I like catching shad, smallmouths, trout, pike, walleyes ..... I guess smallies on a top water fly or popper. Nothing like a river bronzeback clearing a foot of water !! ;D
