Wading Boots
« on: Jun 27, 2006, 11:06 AM »
I am going to get a pair of wading boots.  Does anyone have experience with White River Fly Shop boots from Bass Pro or Cabela's UltraLight Wading Boots?

On a related note - do wading boots fit over stockingfoot waders in your regular shoe size?

I think you usually have to order one size up.  It should say in the catalog or on the webpage.

Any consensus about boots with plain felt vs. felt with studs?

either felt or studded felt will work...studded is nice but i dont know about paying extra for it.

as far as a preference..i worked at bass pro for years..only get there top end boot..its like 70 bucks..its a helluva boot. my girlfriends had her's for about 3 years.  in all honesty..if you can swing it ..get the orvis, or simms wading boots..but if you cant..ive had decent luck with my white river stuff in the past..

I've had the Orvis Ultra Light Wading shoes for several years and I've been completely happy. They're light weight and have very good support. When I purchased them they were felt sole only .. but that's what I wanted.  Now they are felt and studded. They are on sale right now for $50.00. Here's the link :

I should add I went to the Orvis store to try them on. I wanted them with a little room to add booties for cold weather.  ;)

Have had three pair of Hodgman's and they always delaminate; that is the bottoms seperates from the shoe. I send them back and get a new pair free but after three I've called it quits. They last about one season, about 40 trips .  They are a nice light boot with felt soles. I fish for stream trout exclusively with them.
