Odd Catfish

My son caught this catfish today in a small pond on Long Island, New York.

Thats neat. kinda looks like the same color as a palamino trout.

Not sure the species - probably a channel cat, but I'd call that one a yellow cat!

It is a channel catfish. They are not suppposed to be in any waters where I live. :o

I don't think it is a palomino trout. The ones I have seen have much a much more of a vibrant color to them. I am not positive but I think it may actually be an albino catfish.

Best way to be certain would be to contact the DEC. I'm sure they could tell you what it is.

While searching for the meaning of life an older gentleman showed me how to fish. Since then I FOUND IT!!!!!!

I contacted New York State DEC and they want  their biologists to look at it because of its color and this type of fish is not supposed to be in waters where I live. After that he will have it mounted.
