well everyone....got up early friday morning to what looked like a pretty decent day on the lake....light breeze out of the east.....our guide pulls up to the dock in front of the hotel with full rain gear and a toque...i thought he was getting soft....boy was i wrong....suggested full rain gear as he thought it would be a little wet once we hit the open water on lake of the woods....i told him i would be alright...gloves...hoodie with a heavy short parka....stupid me....i should really know better...can't tell someone who's done it before right?? head out....20 minutes...everything is ok....then.....big open water...suggest that we fish some quieter water....all 5 boats push on until we hit 4-5' swells.....heading southwest....start drinking lotw water....every other wave is another gulp...nothing to mix it with...getting soaked...we head out by ourselves..4 other boats take a different route....airborne every other wave....guide grimaces about the toll on the equipment....finally meet up and find that one of the boats running at 3/4 throttle loses steering and pirouettes 180 degrees and bow straight up and stern partially submerged....2 service mgrs dont know what happened so quickly...take one aboard to ride on the folding table laid down over the bow fishing platform....if he's not broken soon...will be minutes taking the pounding....grump is soaked...find an island and set up huge fire to start drying out.....   he doesn't look happy or too wet...notice hoodie slumped to front and minnows swimming in runners ;D  finally pretty dry after roasting clothes...no salt or seasoning...finally get fishing and to shore lunch....pics of some water rats              guides doing shore lunch prep    Germ...these fish measured approximated 35feet...no tape measure ;D   notice only four boats...one missing steering....all in all it was a memorable trip...one we dont want to do again.....grump

Great pics Grumpy Moe and I see the Iceshanty sweater stood you well . ;) You have me kinda concerned for your health though ,because I don't see the mighty Labatts Blue in your hand . The nectar of the gods should be held up with pride and shown for all to see as the true king of beer , that all great fishermen imbibe in after a long day of battling wind and sea in the pursuit of the mighty walleye . ;D
The bush is not a passion , it's in my soul.

Nice pictures Grumpy. We had our share of wind and rain last week. I didn't make it one day w/o full raingear at least 1/2 the day, but we scored some great walleye and trout so it was well worth it.  ;)
