Minutes from Friends of Fishing Meeting Sept. 28th
In attendance: Dakota, Willijac, Wallydiven, PortageRedNeck, Crappiehunter, High Flags and Dan McGuire(from the Valpo Parks Dept).
We talked about the Ramp on Loomis and the contacts that Mike and Dan have had with the DNR about it. We've found out that the DNR does not own the ramp but might be willing to lease it to help with the improvement. Mike and Dan are going to contact Jamie Smyth again to get some clarification on that and see what is best. The City is desirous of improving the ramp and wants to see this done and we just need to find the best way to do it. We need to know the cost and permit process. This looks very promising. The second thing we did was talk about an Ice Fishing Derby on Feb. 5, 2011 that would be done in partnership between Friends of Fishing and Valpo Parks. The Parks would promote it in their literature. We agreed to do this derby and the details will be coming out soon on how it's going to be done. All proceeds are going to do to the building of the new ramp on Loomis. Thanks Dakota for all your work on the details of the Derby and also on promoting tonights meeting. Dakota called the Porter County Conservation Club and they have not set their date yet and agreed to avoid this date.
