Stopped by this morning, beautiful morning, light ESE offshore breeze 2-4mph. Still TONS of ice, the bay looked like a minefield. The pics don't do it justice. The floating ice appeared to extend offshore as far as you could see. The only clear spot was right in front of the river. The giant piles of shelf ice along the shore are still 5-15' tall & extend out 10-50' offshore. The water has erroded the bottom, while the sun baking on the dirt that's stuck to the top is softening it quickly. Large peices are breaking off, falling in, and getting blown out by the breeze.
A couple guys went out in a 16' when I was there. You wouldn't catch me trying it though. Not to mention so much ice, Flatlining difficult if even possible. Boards deff out. No way you could find a line to run them.
Won't be long though.
