You won't get many replies this time of year cause most on here are using the ice shanty site. When the weather changes you'll get alot of replies. As far as the locations you've mentioned i have only fished the miss river. I do very well on smallies below the dam all the way to the Wabash during the summer months. Watch for my reports come late May til Oct. Good luck and stay in touch.

I am going to try Middlefork reservoir this year, bought a camper and will be just a few hundred yards east of the lake, but 10 min from the ramp. Any body ever fish it? Have tried it a few times but not much to show.

We fish Whitewater S.P. and Summit Lake for bass. Boat and/or kayak. If you have a kayak you may wnat to include White River on the east side of Muncie. Catch a lot of small to medium smallmouth there but have seen better. Still trying to figure that one out.  Whitewater S.P. is a  small lake but can have some nice bass and good numbers of small to three pound fish. Highly recommend C&R on that lake. Gets fished heavily but still is fun. We have been doing ok on small crankbaits and artificial nightcrawlers.  We hit Summit for bass. Gets weedy in some of the bays. Not a bad thing if you can fish it. Also troll there for other species and usually pick up some nice bass. It gets hit pretty hard but I think mostly C & R there. Look for deep water humps and channel edges on main lake. Good luck.

I frequent those places now that I live here in Pendleton.  Out of the choices listed, I favor Summit for bass.  Good luck to ya!

Valpo Girl - we go to Summit often too. Hope to see you there this summer. Sorry we didn't meet up on Summit with the ice. Seen your posts on Ice Shanty. We would be in a small "bass boat" or in our kayaks.

Have you ever tried provence pond? With the kayaks it can be fun.

I have only fished Summit twice and both times it was mid summer, very hot conditions, and got skunked both times, but I have been skunked other places too.  What ramp do you guys use. both times I was there I used the ramp to the east and the idiots were bad, fishing on the dock at the ramp that is clearly marked NO FISHING FROM THIS DOCK, just seemed to be oblivious to what was going on, made it very hard to launch and load the boat. I get some every once in a while at Whitewater that will fish from the boat ramp dock, and the complain when you tie your boat up there to load it, some people just dont get it.

Awesome!  I'm fairly new to kayaking and have not tried that pond yet, but I would like to.

Sorry you had trouble there.  I tend to use the ramp that is to the far right when you come in.  It's past the beach, and has a more convenient restroom.  Sometimes, I camp at Summit and I like that I can pull the boat right up to my campsite.  I'm not that good loading and unloading my boat yet. Folk's tend to give me plenty of room when they see me trying to back it in to the water at 45 degree angle for the umteenth time.  I've even had people there help guide me.  Hang in there, you'll get it.

I dont have any problem loading or unloading my boat, I guess its just the people who screw around to long on the ramps and docks that annoy me, the ramp is not the place to put your gear away or sit and talk to someone, its to launch and load your boat, and most of us have had problems now and then and understand when someone else is struggling, I have had problems myself but have come up with a foolproof way to load quickly.   Enough of that, now to fishing, has anyone out there ever fished Middlefork reservoir in Richmond Indiana?  Most of this summer is most likely going to be there or Whitewater, i have fished Whitewater a lot but Middlefork only a few times and not with much of a result. Also like Westwood, but its a little farther for me, Prairie Creek is ok, but the pontoons and pleasure boaters get to be to much.   I fish mostly crankbaits, everything from a Strike King Bitsy minnow, to Strike King 10XD, I also bought 2 Catch em Carro crankbaits this winter, shallow runners and these things are MONSTERS!  I had been looking for a large profile shallow crankbait and these are about as large a profile there is. If you fish a lot of crankbaits check out his website,   Now all we need is for this crap weather to go away, planning on going Smallmouth fishing on Lake Erie on Memorial day weekend, hope the ice is melted off by then!

There's some good smallmouth water just west of the White River head waters which I live very close too. PM me if you ever need access. I'll tell you where to slip in at.

My son lives in north Pa less  than 20 Min south of Erie, there is a limit of 1 fish kept during the time we will be fishing, but that is of no concern of ours, I havent kept a fish in over 40 years, I catch and release, and with the exception of ice fishing, he is to.  Jigmup, I might take you up on that offer, have never fished the white  river, have fished the Mississinawa, but I am only about ten miles from where the Missisinawa river actualy begins!  So the water is pretty skinny, but I have had some good smallmouth days in some holes I have located. The best size wise was a 4 pounder, caught on the lightest spinning rig I have. Smallies in a river are tough sob"s  they give a super fight on light gear. The best fish wise was about 30 smallies in one afternoon, hated to quit that day!
