Beginner Fish Taxidermy classes?
« on: Sep 20, 2012, 06:11 PM »
Beginner Fish Taxidermy classes, anyone know of any that are offered or a good place to start for a self starter kit?   Its something I've wanted to  try, been watching youtube videos for awhile it it looks pretty fun. I have an nice airbrush already and even posses a little artistic talent even so I figured why not. I've got plenty of yellow perch that are willing test subjects in the pond near me.  Going to have a whole lot of free time this winter and looking for something else to keep me busy besides tying millions of flies.  Any help would be great..thanks!

maybe see if you can apprentice under someone that has a business going already? I would think that would be the best way to go

Go to www.taxidermy.com for the WASCO (Wildlife Artist Supply Company). They have instruction books and videos for all types of mounting, even reptiles & amphibians. I purchased the Fish Taxidermy Manual which is a good staring point. Good luck.

Thanks WaynefromMaine. The catalog is full of hunting and fishing taxidermy supplies (mostly in color) and makes for good reading. The catalog can be ordered free on-line. Just got mine the other day.
