Strong gill bite 7/27
« on: Jul 27, 2013, 10:32 PM »
Went out about 545 with my mom and son to catch some gills.  Fished for about 2.5 hours and kept 64 between the 3 of us.  Threw back some small ones and 3 catfish.  All fish were cauught under bobbers, 12-14 ft down over 17ft of water.  Crickets, Waxworms and red wigglers all took fish.  Constant action and lots of laughs as usual when fishing with mom.  Here is a bucketful before cleaning.

There might have been a couple redear close to 10" in the pile, but none of the gills were 10".  Most gills were 8-8.5 with a couple a bit bigger.  The gills in this lake tend to get long, and not 'tall' like gills in some of the michigan lakes.  Only the second time this summer I have been gill fishing.  Too many bass tournaments.
