Back from Winni (pics)

We had a great trip. We did not take home any $$ but were very close. I had only been on the lake one time before so I really had no idea where to start. I felt that yesterday morning was our best chance. We were fishing a 35’ lump with 80-100’ all around it. This lump had some nice bunches of bait as well as some good numbers of fish in this one location. We had a triple at 10am all landed. In all we landed 21 salmon in 2.5 days and several Lakers. Yesterday morning at 5:40am I caught what I thought may be a board fish. Our digital scales read 3.19 lbs 4 hrs later at the weigh in it weighed 2.92 lbs and at only 20.75”  it was a chunky salmon. Out of the 21 salmon we boated only 3 were less than 19” all were very nice fish. I was impressed with the size and condition of the salmon in Winni. What a beautiful lake. I am very much looking forward to returning next year. Here are a few pictures.

Laker

This was the largest salmon that we boated

We had a good trip as well, but just couldn't get a fat salmon for the board.  We did manage one laker that took second for the day on sunday, which was a nice way to end a great trip with all that crazy weather.  The fish were spotty for us, but when we found them we had multiple rods going at once every pass through.  Got on a decent school saturday morning that kept us busy for a few hours, but just could not break the 20in mark.  Was hoping a bigger one would come out of it, but they all seemed to be the same size unfortunately.  Got into a nice group of bigger fish sunday morning, but just ran out of time.  Wish we found those earlier in the weekend.  All in all, we landed 25+ salmon, a couple lakers, and took home $400 in cash and gift cards/certificates.  Like every year, can't wait to go back and fish the Winni marathon derby again.
