Mashapaug
« on: Apr 16, 2015, 06:26 AM »
We're skipping the river this weekend and are thinking of trying Mashapaug on Sunday. I assume the water is ice free but, if I'm wrong, please advise.

Neither Bill nor I have fished Mashapaug before. We don't fish for trout and I don't get too interested in largemouth until things warm up a bit more, but I would like to catch some smallies and maybe my first walleye. I really don't know much about walleye at all. This time of year, what are they up to? What's a typical day in the life of a walleye like?

Tough lake to fish , trout trolling, good bass when it warms a little. Walter has stumped me there for 10 years. Maybe drift worm harnesses for them. Good luck

Right now the eyes are thinking about spawning, although they are rarely successful in CT. Bug is correct, Mashapaug can be tough but walter is in there. Jigging or slow trolling dropoffs during the day and flats at night is worth trying.
