New toy!
« on: Mar 07, 2016, 04:17 PM »
I'm going to try the micro lead line on this set up. One of my Penn 330 LD needs some TLC, just shipped it to Penn repairs. That gave me just the excuse to buy a new reel. Nice balance for the Shimano rod. Thinner profile and lighter than my 330. All metal which is sweet. We'll see what happens!

Nice looking reel.  WHat benefits are you looking for from the micro lead, just lighter tackle?

I have 4 of those from a 15-25. Plenty of drag my go to striper reel. The shimano tekotas are very similar.

Good question Chillie, I just want to try it I guess.I've read a bunch of reviews and I know a few MFFERS use it. Not sure if it will have any advantages. Long story but I got a free spool direct from Tuf-Line to try out.

Free stuff is the best stuff.  Of course you had to buy a new real to use the free line

Reel nice!! What maker?
It is a 5/6 weight Piscifun Sword, CNCed Aluminum.  Mid level reel but the online reviews are about as good as I have seen.   Looks sexy and seems to run pretty smooth.  I will be testing it this weekend or next week looking for browns.
