looks like they were 6 to 8in. I think there's a good survival rate. birds would be the biggest threat. doesn't matter the size with an eagle. they will carry away a 5lb fish  :P

6 to 8 is just right. Any bigger or smaller is not as good.

For sure. How many do they plant?

We had a 500 acre lake system near me that was planted with 1200 6 to 8 inch browns in 1968. Lake had and has plenty of predator fish, and did have smelt and Cisco. Both are gone now. Anyway the lake produced brown trout to 7 lbs. 12 oz. in 1972 from that planting.

About 10,000. Which is about 1 salmon for every 2.5 square acres of water. Factor in about 1/4 of the res is blocked off as well, and its even less.

That being said, every year is different. I talked to a guy last week who said he has caught over 70 this year. With about 30 days total being opened, thats over 2 salmon per day, if he fished every day. Which is a good day, every day, for salmon guy on the Q.

I wish i had been more in tune with jigging lakers when you and I went out. I recall our trip being fairly slow.Which was the way of life for salmon guys the past couple seasons.

If you are ever back up this way, we need to do another trip jigging for lakers. You'll love it.

I have no complaints on the our trip out on the Q. It's so awesome to be on a body of water that isn't ringed with cottages with high speed boats flying in all directions and annoying jet skiers. I lived on a lake in my area briefly while building a house in another location. Nosiest d**n place I ever lived. Worse than a city on the weekend.
