Dawgs Lower Niagara Adventure 4/22
« on: Apr 25, 2006, 03:15 PM »
Took my ice fishing partner to lewiston this weekend for some steelhead action. Upon arrival found out we were getting a bonus of kings and laker's off the bar as well. opened the morning with this brown

Next  Doug caught his biggest fish ever and first king

Then I landed this 31" laker before we headed to Devils hole for the steelies

Up in the hole we filled our limit with the following steelies

Sunday produced 3 laker's out on the bar the smallest was 30" and another limit of steelhead out of devils hole by 11:30 so we ended the day at 12:30 due to the rain and 6 hr drive ahead of us. WHAT A FISHERY THE LOWER NIAGARA IS. :clapping: :thumbup_smilie:

bigredfishing the trip was guided by Capt John Delorenzo. on Saturday we fished with a Capt Phil who sometimes works for Capt John on Sunday though we were blessed with Capt John himself. I have done this trip now for 5-6 years with similar success every time. As for climbing down the banks to fish from shore
devilman no thanks at the hole or artpark.hood you get used to the whirlpools and rapids after awhile I would never attempt to take my own boat out there those guides the 10-12 of them that charter all winter long keep each other informed on the bite and where the fish are and make the difference between a 1 or 2 fish day and limiting out for 2-3 men both days. Some of the info I have experienced from these guys that makes all the difference is the bite may be on a chartreuse sack but it may need 1 pink float and other times it may need a chartreuse float they are defiantly on where the fish are and what they are hitting

yeah dawg its just like you said, we were hopping around from bite to bite as our guide (jeff tedesco, I think now retired) was in constant contact with the other guys...the whirlpools DID take some gettin used to but it was well worth it.
