if you intend on trolling only... try laker takers, rapala husky jerks black or blue with silver sides, chrome buzz bombs and occassionally quick slack the line for some flutter......any of these should produce......and of course the good old five of diamonds as well.....tightlines....grump

I agree with all of Grumpy's choices and heres a few more . LOL
Wardens Worry , Williams Whitefish ., Krocodiles and the Ripplin Redfin if your using the riggers and the fish are deep .

Sutton spoons have been deadly for me. Takes a fair amount of weight to get them deep enough since they are so light. Since you are new to laker fishing, I would go with a Canadian Wiggler in the chrome finish. Deadly banana bait made of metal so it goes deep all by itself. Lakers should be in shallow(for them) water at this time of year. Around 15-20 FOW. My personal fave? A jointed Spoonbill Rebel.

the best time of the year to forget about the boat...find a nice sloping rock adjacent to deeper water. either get busy casting or rig up a ciscoe and start beercan fishing...soak up the sun and the suds...grump.....saves on gas too

My suggestion is Get a Canoe and Try some fishing from it It wont scare the fish as much you can be nice and stealthy and still be close to shore..you can do the ciscoe like Grump says or troll behind you canoe about 100 feet behind it at a moderate pace and still catch em....If ya have any luck let us know what u did to catch it:> TIght lines!
