Nailing the perch!!
« on: Jun 25, 2008, 08:14 PM »
We found a small creek that comes out of one of our favorite lakes. Do you think these perch we have been catching 35-50 per night. do you think they came up when our waters were so high with no run-off?? this is only a small pocket of water about 40 yards from the lake with a 20 foot diameter but only 10 feet deep max. what do you think???

I would say the perch are following the baitfish or some other food source.

they are surely following the food. that is were the bait can shelter from the depths.

Definetly following the food, i had a similar experience this past weekend, whenever we moved in real shallow coves the perch were there in high concentrations. We were catching them on shiners we put out for pickerel. There was a decent wind that was blowing, baitfish were probably taking shelter and the perch were in after them
