Ya we went out side of Segwin Island for the Mackerels. It was a little rough because the tide was going out ,but it wasn't to bad.

the water out there gets a little big for my little 16 footer.

i got a chance to try my new handheld gps with the nautical charts loaded on it.  that works great!!

I use mine all the time, especially in the dense fog. You'll find that it's important to have a lot of waypoints down there because of the turns and islands etc. The chart tells you where you are but the distances are deceiving. ;D

It's hard to believe how thick the fog  gets until you get in it and you cant see the front of the boat. Before my GPS we had to go by a compass .That's very scary ,heading north and trying not to hit another boat or rocks.
jp every time we go out there I think were in the smallest boat out there and we were in a 20'.I have been out there many times in our 18',but there has been times when we wouldn't go.
