Ya we went out side of Segwin Island for the Mackerels. It was a little rough because the tide was going out ,but it wasn't to bad.

the water out there gets a little big for my little 16 footer.  

i got a chance to try my new handheld gps with the nautical charts loaded on it.  that works great!!

I use mine all the time, especially in the dense fog. You'll find that it's important to have a lot of waypoints down there because of the turns and islands etc. The chart tells you where you are but the distances are deceiving.

 It's hard to believe how thick the fog  gets until you get in it and you cant see the front of the boat. Before my GPS we had to go by a compass .That's very scary ,heading north and trying not to hit another boat or rocks.
 jp every time we go out there I think were in the smallest boat out there and we were in a 20'.I have been out there many times in our 18',but there has been times when we wouldn't go.
